Well we are back in the school swing of things over here. Kindergarten has started off really well! Aside from hearing her brother say 1,347,239 times a week how much he hates school, it hasn't seemed to rub off on Keatyn...yet. Praying that lasts! There's been a lot going on with having both in school and then on September 1st my parents closed on their new house!! 1628 Eagle Drive is now theirs and so far they are loving it. And we are slowing emptying boxes. And then the work begins on Fairview to get it rent ready. I couldn't be happier for them. The yard is FANTASTIC and my dad is loving it, and the size and layout of the house is perfect for them. We painted Nana's kitchen a purple/gray and her dining room is all purpled up with her treasures. We are excited for Marilyn to come in October and we will christen the new house with our first Sunday dinner.
Here's what we've been up to...
Finally made it to Bass Pro Shop. It's a good thing it's about 15 miles from home or I may never see Jimmy again.
About 2 weeks after school started, my girls and I had our 2nd annual "This is 40 (now 41)" trip to Destin. Jim and Sylvia graciously offered their condo to us again and we literally counted down the days till it got here. SO. MUCH. FUN! I love and adore these ladies so much! We headed out after work on Wednesday afternoon. Thursday morning we made our way to Serenity by the Sea for our spa day. It was heavenly!
After that we hit our favorite pool, that looks out over the ocean.
The next day... same song, second verse.
We enjoyed great food and lots of girl talk.
Bless Jill. She could literally fall asleep anywhere.
We all enjoyed shopping at the outlets and White House Black Market was a huge hit! May be one of my new favorite finds!
The last night, we ate at Marlin Grill at Baytowne and then hit the piano bar and dance club.
We've decided to make this an annual thing (sorry honey ;) and may change up the locations just for fun. I am so very thankful for these friendships and love doing life with them!
As good as it was to get away, I couldn't wait to get home to my people.
Look at this rotten dog and my boy. LOVE!
Last Friday, Sisty and I picked them up from school and surprised them with a trip to Alabama to see the cousins. They were so excited! Trace got to go to a high school football game with Nelson and Keatyn swam at Shelia's with Mallory. They had so much fun!
The next morning, Mallory had her 5th birthday party at church and Elsa showed up!
Matching braids...
Love this little girl so much!
So on one side of the gym was this sweet, girly quiet party with purple balloons and decorated tables. And on the other side of the gym (and occasionally right between the pretty decorated tables) this was going on. Ha! They had a blast!
Sweet, sweet cousins...
Speaking of cousins. This one has captured all our hearts. Roman is so much fun and growing up so fast! Love him to pieces.
Saturday was a big day at our house. Jimmy has wanted to take his boy hunting since the day he was born and we bought him his "lifetime hunting license." Did you even know such a thing existed? Yeah, me neither.
Trace went on his first dove hunt. I was honestly kinda worried because he's so tender hearted and as he told his dad, "not really into violence" ha! But he said he had fun and didn't seem too traumatized.
They got 10! Trace didn't care much for the cleaning part (who could blame him) and it is yet to be determined if he will actually eat it when I cook them tomorrow night. We may just say it's chicken. Lol.
Later that night, Emily and I drove to Canton, GA for Mary's wedding. It was on a beautiful farm out in the middle of nowhere. I had never been to a wedding like that and I loved it. I'm SO very happy for her (since it was just 2 years ago, we were out celebrating her divorce... ha!) but it's bittersweet because her ties to Chattanooga are gone and we know she won't be back. But, she was glowing with happiness and that's all that matters!
Bert adores her and seems like a fantastic guy. I couldn't be happier for them!
So that's the latest around here! SO, SO, SO ready for fall. It still feels like the surface of the sun most days. Ready for sweater and boot weather!
