A sweet surprise

Marilyn, I hope you are still able to check my blog and read this.  You are my one and only faithful reader. Lol!  I know you have really had a rough go lately and I'm so thankful you are home and feeling better.  Keatyn made you this sign to show you your Tennessee family loves you and are praying for your healing!  Hang in there and keep fighting!!  WE LOVE YOU!

A few weeks ago, I called my sweet Nanny at Regency just to check in.  She was her typically chipper self and always acts like she is fine, even though she has now been locked in there alone since the middle of March.  When I asked her how she really was, she admitted how lonely she was.  It broke my heart.  I started crying on the phone but I think I hid it pretty well.  We finished talking and I drove the rest of the way home praying.  I just prayed that the Lord would let me hug her neck soon, let her come out of the other side of this able to see her family again and some sense of normalcy.  I prayed to give her peace and comfort during this lonely time and for those we have entrusted to care for her to be kind and loving to her.

That weekend, we were all meeting at Fairview Road to talk about getting it ready to sale and we decided to do a drive by and say hi to Nanny.  Keatyn made her a banner and we called ahead and asked Thomas to bring her up to the front.  Because she isn't on an outside room, we haven't been able to see her through a window or anything.  Thomas was able to get her out of her beloved chair and walked her up to the front door.  We just waved and blew kisses through the door and she just cried and cried, which we knew she would.  She is the most precious thing.  I can just imagine her saying... "Oh my word" over and over through tears.  I hope it let her know how much we think about her and love her.  And I pray it brightened her day just a little.  I know it did mine.

Life Lately

Just a little mopping in quarantine.  You know your world has gotten small when you get plum giddy over the arrival of a new rolling mop you ordered at 3 a.m. one night on Amazon when you couldn't sleep.
After 39 years of teaching, Mrs. Levenger, who taught Trace and Keatyn in 3rd grade retired.  I HATE that this was the way her career ended.  She had no idea when she walked out of her classroom on March 12 that she would never return and not see her class again in person.  She missed the final parties, hoopla of retirement... all the lasts she deserved.  It breaks my heart for her.

One of the moms organized a drive by retirement parade for her.  She lives in Dayton which is a good 30 minutes from Hixson.  With CCS having many kids in Georgia and the other side of the river, I was thrilled that we ended up having about 10 cars meet at Bryan College to surprise her.  It was a such sweet day honoring a great lady.  I felt our quarantine was now complete having participating in a drive by parade.  Lol!

We kinda broke the social distancing rule once we got there and everyone ended up getting out of their cars and getting pictures.  Oops!

A few days later, we went to Sherrys to celebrate Christy getting her PhD.  Wowsers!!  So proud of my amazingly smart friend!  As we were eating, Sherry pulled out all the old pictures of the Brown/Campbell history photo album and we laughed and laughed.  Does this one of Andy not look just like Roman?  Crazy genetics!
I have decided to repaint and spruce up my laundry room.  It's the last room to get painted so it's still beige when everything else is grayish.  It also can be seen from my front door and the door is 90% of the time left open so it would be nice for it not to look like this forever.  Lol!  Here is the before...
We finally all got together at Carol's for a joint, belated birthday celebration.  Mom's in March, Van's in April, Andy, Roman and mine in May.  It was a great day!

This was hilarous!  You know my love for numbered balloons.  It started with dad and the kids birthdays being celebrated together.  So I brought balloons for this one thinking the little guys would be the hardest to handle.  Turns out, it was mom and I.  We could NOT get our number right.  If I had mine right at 45, she was 96.  Then mine got turned somehow and the camera men (Jimmy and Kadi never caught it)  We took multiple shots and don't think we ever got one right with everyone looking.  Oh well...memories.

This memory of Keatyn graduating from preschool popped up the other day and reminded me just how fast this is all going.  I remember this like it was yesterday.  Oh, my babies...

Every now and then he will still go get the swords...
My Fab 5 celebrated my birthday on Iris's back deck with Sidetracks and cake.  It was so good to catch up and see faces I love again!

Mom found this the other day of her and dad at Prom.  Babies...
Leslie challenged me of Facebook to 10 days of being a mom picture collage.  I layed in bed one night until 2 looking through pictures on my blog of my favorite mom pictures with my kiddos and took screenshots of them.  Turns out, I never actually posted them on facebook but I LOVE these pictures and memories so much!!

Washing Jimmy's boat...
Right after my birthday, we loaded up and headed to Destin for a few days.  We had warned the kids that this would be an unusual trip.  We would social distance just like we did at home.  We weren't going to the crazy crowded  beaches or to the restaurants and wharf to be around a lot of people.  We weren't even sure about the pool situation.  But they were on board and ready to see a set of 4 different walls, so off we went!

Crossing the bay and that view gets you everytime.  Especially at sunset...

Sadie loved the lizards...

We found grapefruit trees by the fountain pool we never knew were there...

The only time we ate out was when we sat outside at Tailfins down at Harborwalk.  That is the first time (and last) we have been in a restaurant since the middle of March.  It was SO GOOD!!!

With all the turmoil and sadness going on in our great country, I couldn't resist a picture with the American Flag flying behind them.  This was right after George Floyd's death and all the riots had started throughout the country.  We need so many prayers for our great nation.

They wore us down and we let them do the zipline at Harborwalk but we drew a hard no at the gerbil ball where germs are rampant.  Lol!

They did a lot of bike riding and skateboarding...

With the beaches packed during the day, we only went down one afternoon but with Hurricane Cristabol way out in the gulf, the seaweed was really bad and we got some rain.  The kids loved the waves but poor Jimmy didn't catch any fish this time.
My boot was full of sand as you can imagine but I made it.  Lol!
We called Publix one night and ordered shrimp and crab legs from the seafood department.  It was so good and we ate until we were stuffed!

We played a couple of holes of golf one night and I couldn't resist with the pictures.  Oh my, this place is so beautiful, and that sunset is breathtaking!

After we got back, it was Emerson's birthday party on their dock.  The kids had a ball!

Summer has started off in a different but great way.  Trace was supposed to be at Camp Lookout this week but it was cancelled along with Wrestling Camp.  There is no summer swim this year so things have been pretty slow but we are enjoying the down time and making the most of the summer.
