July and August 2019

The last part of July and August were pretty much spent in the water.  This may have been one of the hottest summers I can remember.  Or maybe I'm just old and can't tolerate the heat like I used to but it was HOT! Lol

Swimming on the dock with Maddux...
We finished up the swim season at Chattanooga Golf and did the City Meet at Baylor.  It was super busy and 2 long days but the kids did great and it was so much fun!  I was really proud of Trace for trying something new!

The whopping $60+ sweatshirts from City Meet.  Lol!
Keatyn got moved up to the A team relay at the last minute because of her good times and all the girls got the same WILD sweatshirt.
The next Sunday they had the awards ceremony for the summer swim team and Keatyn racked up!!

We really enjoyed swimming at Carol's this summer.  Roman got really good and confident in the water.

 Van has stolen our hearts...

The last weekend of July, Sylvia and I took the kids to Alabama to see the cousins and stay a night at the Marriott.  We love getting them together!

Keatyn had just finished the Helen Keller book so we went by her childhood home in Tuscumbia on our way out.  It was fascinating and the kids loved touring the house.
Secret Life of Pets 2 with Emerson and Thatcher.  Thatcher switched schools this year and we miss that boy so much!!
Then the first week of August, we headed to Destin for one more hooray before school starts for Jimmy's birthday...

We found a little dive on the way to Stinky's Fish Camp for hats.  We drove up 30A and ended up eating at Elmo's Grill.  Great food and live music.

We bought passes to Big Kahunas...

The dogs got in on the birthday cake action...
We snuck Sadie down one night for her first beach walk.  She loved it!

The lifeguard told us Sandestin paid $8,000 for this sand castle!?!  What in the world?  Don't touch it kids!!

Total waste of money but you live and learn.
We literally laughed until we cried.  Trace buried her in the sand and then threw crumbs at her face to draw all the birds in.  It was hilarous!!  He was kind enough to cover her with a frisbee when they got too close.

Before we knew it, summer was over and it was Desk Day.  Love these sweet friends!

And then 3rd and 7th grade began...

The Lower School started with uniforms this year so that's been an adjustment, but a good one.
So other than Kindergarten my kids have had the same teachers for 1st (Mrs. Sabourin), 2nd (Mrs. Sims) and now Mrs. Levenger for 3rd grade.  Praying for a great year for these 2!

The traditional first day of school cookie cake...

 Sweet Van at the pool...

In mid August we celebrated Granddaddy and Sisty's birthday...

A World War 2 Navy ship came to the riverfront for a week and we took the kids down to tour it.  A piece of history that our grandfathers could possibly have been on.  So many brave men and women sacrificed so much for the freedom we enjoy today.  I want my kids to never take that for granted!

Keatyn had her first cross country match in the pouring rain.  I was really proud of her for trying it this year.  We are not runners so she was a little out of her element. Lol  More on that next month...
Sweet Olivia came and spent the night with us right after school started.  They had fun!
 Next up, September and October!
