We spent Father's Day at the beach. And how else better to celebrate our daddy...
than with crab legs. The man is a machine.
One night while we were there, my sweet friend Mary asked us to come eat a low country boil with her family, who were staying on 30A. She offered to take our picture on the beach and I was all about it! We were having professional pictures done later in the week when Sisty and Granddaddy got there, but some fun family candids are always good. You will more than likely see some of these on our Christmas card! Woo Hoo... Christmas cards done in July, that's a first. :)
The kids couldn't wait to get in the pool after dinner but Mother Nature had another plan. It didn't rain a drop all week except this night. And to say the heavens opened up is an understatement. Poor kiddies...
There was an ice cream vendor sat up right where you walk up the pier to the beach and the kids drooled everytime we walked past. One day, I stopped and for a mere $16 I fed my little family a sugary treat. Sticky, melted chocolate ice cream, sand, and a 3 year old make for quite a combination.
These were the outtakes Granddaddy got while the professional photographer was getting pictures. Our pictures should arrive any day and I can't wait to see them!
Fishing lasts about 2 casts with Trace, much to his daddy's dismay. Keatyn, however, seemed to love it. I hope for Jimmy's sake, one of them does. (But honestly, I'm with Trace... snoooozze :)
For years we've driven past Big Kahunas Waterpark and said we were going. Well we finally did, and it didn't disappoint. If you can get past the fact you're swimming in "recycled" water and teach them to keep their mouths FIRMLY shut when they land, all is well. We were there for 5 hours and had a blast. Keatyn is about 2.5 inches away from being golden. 42 inches is the magic number at waterparks and Disney.
I feel certain I'll forever have a scar on my backside from some demon possessed waterslide the boys made me go down. It turns out, in my old age, I'm no longer a fan of enclosed, dark death tunnels that twist and turn you in the pitch black, then dump you unknowingly into a raging pool of "recycled" water. I'll happily remain in the pee-pee filled kiddie pool with my 39 inch toddler, thank you.
So she's too long for the basket on the back of daddy's, but not quite old enough to handle a bike on her own. We improvised.
The back porch, one of our favorites...
Our last night there, we went to the wharf and the kids did the bouncy trampoline, the climbing wall (Trace rang the bell!!!) and the zip line. It was a great way to end the week.
Night-night...
