This weekend, we celebrated Trace's 2nd birthday. The whole time, I would just look at him and wonder when did this little thing...turn into this?
Where have these past 2 years gone? How did my baby grow up so fast? Will someone please press rewind... or at least pause?
We had a family birthday party at our house. Now, when I say family, some people may think small... not this family. We had over 35 people there and that still wasn't everyone! Jimmy and I are so blessed with the most amazing family and we just keep going, and going, and going... and we LOVE it!
God truly was smiling down on us and gave us the most beautiful day. We actually took tables and chairs outside and ate! When you have a February baby, you just resign yourself to the fact that every birthday will be spent inside at bowling alleys, skating rinks, and Pump-It-Up places, so you can imagine my excitement when the forecast called for sunny and 67 degrees on Saturday. The kids got to ride and play outside and didn't have to have 5 layers on. In fact, the hardest part of the party was keeping my outdoor lovin' boy inside. I honestly believe, he is the only child in the history of the world that actually ran away while opening his presents. The french doors were open and although there were dozens of gifts right in front of him, he kept making breaks for the door. Luckily, he had to get through Granddaddy and Papaw, a.k.a. the bouncers, before he was free. They kept hauling him back.
Here he is taking a break from the gift opening to visit with Nanny... he probably thought he could sweet talk her into taking him outside. Nanny has always been known as a push over when it came to the kiddos.
As you can tell, Trace doesn't get much "straight" juice. I'm the water down queen! So, when he gets ahold of a juice box, you better watch out... he's not even coming up for air. He loved his fruit punch Capri Sun and wasn't about to let it go until every drop was gone.
Punch drunk! This before and after should be on a billboard somewhere supporting us watering down mothers!
Here are the cousins eating their cake. Look at Sara Kathryn and her gorgeous curls... she is going to be a heartbreaker! At one point I asked T, while he was still devouring Barney, if he was ready to open presents and he said his favorite new word... "no". Abram, his cousin across the table who is 3 1/2, leans over the table and says "No, no Trace you do want to go open your presents... that's the best part!" It was so cute, you can tell Abram's done this birthday thing a few more times! Good advice cuz!
My brother and Kadi needed a picture of all of us for their wedding website. Bless Aunt Kadi, she spent the whole night behind the camera and took every picture I have... thank you so much you did a great job!
It was a wonderful day, spent with my favorite people on earth! Trace is a very lucky little boy to be loved by so many! Happy Birthday T, mommy and daddy love you so much!!!
