Ever seen a foot after it's been submerged in a bed of fire ants?
It looks something like this.
Jimmy has been on a one-man mission to rid our yard of fire ants. Seeing that little foot made it personal. He went all Tony Soprano on those ant hills, stomping, spraying, burning... until there were none, for now anyway.
That night we gave Trace his first dose of Benadryl, and then we waited...
I know what Benadryl does to me. I better be within 3 feet of a bed because I will be horizontal in about 10 minutes. However, I have heard this is not everyone's reaction. Some climb the walls... for hours. Luckily, it didn't seem to do either extreme to him, but it took a few extra attempts to get him to stay in bed that night. (For those that don't know, this is week 1 of the big boy bed, a.k.a... road to freedom.)
Attempt #1
Reapply more ointment to his itchy feet, re-read, re-rock, re-tuck...
5 minutes later... the sound of little pitter-patters across his floor...
Attempt #2
"Look buddy, Daddy and Ginger are going night-night in your big boy bed."
Pitter-patters continue... but then it got quiet.
As I was going to bed for the night, I went up to check on him one more time and noticed his lamp light shining from under the door. He had fallen asleep in his chair with his bobbie, blanket, and books.
Looks like he fought the good Benadryl fight until the end, but finally gave up.

Bless his heart...those are the sweetest little pictures of him in his rocking chair. Beautiful little boy!
This is too cute! I bet Jimmy woke up feeling so rested in his "big boy bed"!! Ginger looked pretty comfy, though! Hate that he got stung/bit-that's when that instinct kicks in to protect your baby!! Hope y'all are well~loved reading your 7 things...you are so lucky to have your relationship with Sylvia! I do envy that-she's a great lady & she's lucky to have gotten you, too!! Take care!
