Well our last day of spring break didn't start out quite as I had hoped. I had a day loosely planned around being downtown. Going back to the Chattanooga Choo-Choo (Trace hadn't been there since he was 2), maybe sliding down that big hill on cardboard boxes, or letting him run his remote control boat at Ross's Landing. I wasn't sure exactly what the day held but it was gorgeous outside and I still had twenty something bucks left. :)
But... about 9:30, Trace was pulling Keatyn up into the big chair by her hands and she immediately started crying. She wouldn't use or lift her left arm at all, so I called the doctor. They told me to be there in 30 minutes. I jumped in the shower and off we went. I was so scared. She wouldn't let me put her down and she wanted her arm wedged between us. I knew she was really hurting.
As I drove to the doctor with her crying in the back seat, I just kept praying. Was it broken, was it in her growth plate, is this something that was going to affect her long term??? I wanted so badly to just get her out of her car seat and hold her. She was so pitiful and I felt so helpless.
It wasn't lost on me, that it was Good Friday. I think once you become a parent, Good Friday forever changes in your mind. Realizing the pain that God must have endured, watching His child suffer and die on the cross that day, is more than I can bear to comprehend as a mother. In NO way does a hurt arm compare to the magnitude of Christ's crucifixion, but again I was awed by the overwhelming love God must have for us, that he allowed His son to suffer that death as he had to watch helplessly from heaven. Unable to hold him, comfort him, or stop the pain.
God continues to use these children to bring me closer to Him.
Dr. McMahan examined her arm and after 2 good X-Rays, decided it was Nursemaid's Elbow and needed to be popped back into place. She got a good pop which told her that was the right diagnosis then gave me time to try and get her using it again. I whipped out the Puffs and after a few minutes she started using her hand to reach for them. It was an instant fix, and I was so thankful! While I was there, I asked her to check her ears because she's had a runny nose for weeks and sure enough, she had a slight ear infection. That makes 3 since Christmas. So now she's on another round of Amoxicillan. :( I'm afraid we're on track for the ENT.
She was sound asleep in the car after that ordeal so after a nap, we headed to the Choo-Choo...

I took my savings, my 20% off coupons, my $20 in Kohl's cash and did a little retail therapy that night! :) (Where I realized in the dressing room that I had had my pants on backwards ALL day. ha! That's what happens when you get ready in under 5 minutes... and terrified.)
So... for Thursday, the kids and I met Sylvia at the mall to visit the Easter Bunny. You may remember Keatyn's reaction to Santa wasn't overly joyful. The big bunny, not much better. I warmed her up a little....

They managed to get one decent shot, but there was certainly NO smiling. Bless her heart! Sylvia made her adorable outfit along with some other pillowcase dresses. I just loved it!! She is so talented and precious to me!
After pictures we loaded up and went to see her friend, Jean, at Alexian Village. She is absolutely the sweetest person and it makes her day to get visitors. Trace took her some cookies but I'm afraid ate half of them with her during our visit!
Since we were up on the mountain, we took the kids to the Pumpkin Patch. I love this playground!
Trace would have stayed on this zipline all day if I'd let him. He absolutely loved it. We will have to go back soon!
I got very brave and decided to tackle the slides with Keatyn. When I look at this picture, all I see are feet!!! Jimmy called me platypus foot.

On Wednesday, Trinity and I took the kids to the Creative Discovery Museum and to lunch at Mellow Mushroom. Granddaddy and Sisty renewed our membership for the kid's birthdays, so we go as much as possible! It was pretty crowded with it being Spring Break but we had a really good time.
On our way to Mellow Mushroom, these guys had used 5 gallon paint buckets to create a street band. It was really impressive. Trace burst into John Travolta mode right there on Broad Street and was a show all by himself. My phone somehow erased that pic. :(
It was a great day. I'm so blessed to be raising babies with these special friends in my life!
